After a protracted delay of over two years, marked by a disconcerting refusal to enter any plea, NSW Health has finally admitted guilt in the District Court of NSW for failing to manage the psychosocial risks that led to relentless bullying and the tragic suicides of two nurses.
This admission comes far too late and raises serious questions about the use of delay tactics that could be perceived as a way to undermine the judicial process.
It is imperative that the court consider these factors and apply the maximum penalty ($1,766,130), sending a clear message that neither the delay nor the grave offenses will be taken lightly.
