Quality Assurance and Best Practice

WOMENS HEALTH SERVICES undertook an Accreditation Review in July 2004. The review was conducted by the Quality Improvement Council (QIC), Institute for Health Communities Australia (IHCA). The Quality Improvement Council is responsible for the coordination of the Australian Health and Community Services Standards as well as other quality improvement services. WOMENS HEALTH SERVICES was reviewed using the Health and Community Services Core Module.

Standards addressed were grouped under the following sections:

• Management and Leadership

• Planning Quality Improvement and Evaluation

• Training and Development

• Work and Its Environment

• Consumer Rights

In addition, WOMENS HEALTH SERVICES had a developmental review under the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Standards.

Of the forty five Standards 97% were met and 3% were met in part.

ACCREDITATION RECOMMENDATION

WOMENS HEALTH SERVICES has met all the essential requirements for accreditation, and has demonstrated its commitment to continuous quality improvement, as measured by its achievements against the organisation’s quality work plan. The Review Team recommended the Quality Improvement Council’s accreditation be awarded to WOMENS HEALTH SERVICES for a period of three years.
