Daffodil Day

WHS Community Daffodil
A diagnosis of cancer does not affect just one person, but an entire community.
It impacts upon the life of the individual, their partner, family, friends and colleagues.

But in turn behind a person who shows support, donates, or simply continues the message of awareness and prevention, there is a community.

One person becomes many, and it is through these relationships that we can live, grow and blossom.

The 28th of August 2009 was Daffodil Day, an annual fundraising and awareness event held by the Cancer Council. With the help of WHS staff, clients and the community, we were able to created a beautiful community photomosaic to promote the day and raise awareness.

We chose the image of a Daffodil to be recreated using photos sent in by the community of something yellow, or something significant to them on the day.

• You can also see the framed Daffodil in the WHS waiting room at 100 Aberdeen Street next time you visit us, or through our Multimedia gallery.

• The many wonderful photos sent in to contribute to the Daffodil can be viewed here, in our flicker gallery. (Album can only displays the most recent 200 photos)

• We at Women’s Health Services would like to thank every one who helped to create this Daffodil. The full list of all those who helped create the Community Daffodil can be viewed here.

The final photomosaic was made up of over 400 individual images, with over 1500 image tiles displayed; both full-scale photos and yellow close-ups. During the course of this event our daffodil photo gallery has received over 500 views. This has only been possible because of thoughtful contributions from people like you.

Your help made it possible for us to create a beautiful piece of art and in turn spread the message of Daffodil Day.

Once again thank you for your support of Daffodil Day 2009 and Women’s Health Services.
